(this post has no title)

I started blogging in 2005 when I was training for the Women's Tri-Fitness Competition in Las Vegas. And I wrote steadily for years after that, focusing on fitness and getting certified as a personal trainer, training clients, and my lifelong struggle to improve my diet.

After a year of writing, my blog got me in trouble with one of my relatives. I'd shared something on my blog that I hadn't directly told her and she was deeply hurt to not be informed. So I deleted every bit of my writing, in an attempt to prove to her that family is my priority. At the time it seemed like my only choice. The relationship is strong, but sometimes I wish I could get those words back.

My new blog uses WordPress. Everyone says WordPress is better, and I'm sure it is. But I just don't have the time or energy to learn it. So I'm going to bring those posts over here, to Blogger.

This morning I read through several of my old posts. I can see who I was before my parents health plummeted. There were a number of writings on the difficulty of parenting teens. Here's one of my favorites:

February 16, 2010
Busy day. Crazy busy. I got home at 9:30 from a meeting, and immediately Austin wanted me to watch a UFC fight, which I did. Then started cleaning the kitchen (told you it was a busy day). Tucker was talking to me and we were joking around. Then:

Austin, "You know what's fun? Trying to hear the fight over you guys talking."
Me, "You know what's fun? That you get to watch hours of UFC in the main part of the house and our family lets you."
Austin (turns up the volume)

Sometimes with teens I think it's best to not sweat the small stuff. So I fought the temptation to get tons of ice from the ice maker, then grind it up in the disposal. Do I get some mom brownie points for this? :)

Writing is therapeutic, and I want to make writing just as easy as possible.

Hey there :-). It's good to see you writing again. You've been in my thoughts on and off since you stopped writing, because I don't forget people who make a positive impact on my life :-).

I'm sorry to hear that you're having a difficult time with your Father.

I've experienced myself, the difficulties that can be bestowed upon elders, especially in the case of both my Grandmothers and I empathise with you a lot, because it was difficult to see decent people who had had productive but sometimes difficult lives, living through wars and bringing up children through WWII, ending up pretty in a wheelchair in one case and bedridden in the other.

One thing to believe in is that you are someone who will be able to do the right things when it comes to it.

Your Father helped you to become someone in life with emotional beauty, wisdom and conscience and I am sure you will be able to make those things work for you.

Another thing to believe in is yourself. Your own human power and ability not least to be able to find the time you need to look after yourself, because you're someone who has worked over the years to cultivate and protect the things that make you so human and I think you ARE someone that can provide enough emotion for yourself as well as those in your life and by doing so, be able to give yourself the care and attention you need to be the person others need, who can function properly to the right emotional mental and physical levels :-).

I can emapthise in that there is a significant chance, that things relating to your parents will not get easier, but they will be made a bit easier for all concerned by you having the necessary human skills to use when necessary :-).

Just keep believing in yourself and whatever you do, remember that the time you've spent on yourself for the last several years, to protect your youth and improve your welllness have always been worht it because you ARE worth it.

GOOD LUCK and best wishes Leslie.

I think you are a tue Lady and a gift to your family.

:-) :-).

So glad you're writing on this forum and that you can see glimpses of who you were "before." I love the Austin/Kitchen post. YES! I give you googolplex points for that and for being who you are.
