I eat raw almonds and drink Diet Pepsi for breakfast.
I used to smoke cigarettes after doing aerobics classes. (This was many years ago, but completely true!)
I believe whole foods are the best thing you can do for your body, and I LOVE manufactured foods (protein bars in particular).
I'm a committed vegetarian who loves caffeine way more than the average bear!
The dissonance in my habits is starting to get annoying. I may be ready to make some changes soon. As awareness precedes change, I figured I should write this stuff down. Anyone else have any contradictory habits? I'd sure love to know that I'm not alone...

i would work out like a maniac and then smoke.
i still work out like a maniac all week and drink too much all week.
i tell people not to give up and then give serious thought about doing just that.
i could give a rat's ass about most of the things that occupy my day at my job, but i am very enthusiatic in my career b/c i am a whore to the promise of more $...
everyone with convictions is a walking contradiction. it comes with the territory adn teh inescapable fact that we are necessarily and inherently imperfect.
Ha! A great workout followed by plopping myself on the couch with a bowl of cheesy poofs...or ice cream...or chocolate...
I'm just one big ole contradiction so I will say nothing LOL
I just started following your blog posts . . . a wanderer from dailymile =) Anyway, I love this post---I had to comment.
I've a committed vegetarian who also loves caffeine. I used to drink Mountain Dew (yuck, I know) like it was going out of style. I still love coffee, but I finally gave it all up. Now, I'm 100% tea--some black, green, and others. I miss it sometimes, but I think I'm better off this way.
I'm also a committed whole, real foodie, who loves granola, fruit/nut, and protein bars . . . its tough to do anything 100% though, right ;)
I'm also thinking that you and I must have similar eating habits. Now, if only I could emulate your running mileages . . .
I'm the same way about loving healthy stuff and total junk at the same time.
Well, I watch The Biggest Loser with a bowl of ice cream with whipped cream on top. And chocolate syrup.
And surely there's some dissonance in the level in which I care for my physical health vs. my mental/spiritual health. I think that one's a LOT worse than raw almonds and Diet Coke. Sigh...
You crack me up! I think everyone is in the same boat as you my friend.
I have way to many to post LOL
I don't really do anything like that, but I'm sure you'll get things sorted out in time.
Take care and best wishes.
:-) :-).
I had to reduce the caffeine - my heart decided it didn't like it.
So I drink black tea before my runs. I feel much better - even less stressed out. Give it a try ; )
PS.
And I never drink pop!
I'm really conscious about what I eat... except when it comes to processed meat. I love hotdogs, Spam, beef jerky, etc.
I miss you! Sorry I've been away from your blog! How's training going? Are you going to Boston??
