Fitness for all ages and stages from a girl who's made all the mistakes and talks about them here. Lots of oversharing, which hopefully leads to lots of encouragement and heart connection.
A half Marathon sold out. That's something I never thought I'd hear.
I always expect things that sell out are Music Gigs, Comedy Shows, Plays, Musicals, but running races :-s :-s.
That could potentially inhibit the discovery of a potentially strong running talent, or prevent some people raising money for Charity.
I suppose they have reasons for that sort of thing, but sold out sounds odd, when being connected to a road race.
Maybe they'll call you, if someone rings up a few days before, with a dud Ankle, asking if you'd still be interested. You never know, you might be on some sort of resevrve list or something odd like that.
Or if someone retires with an injury, would they substitute them half way round?
Probably not, but if they did, just make the subsitute do 30 minutes of continuous Jacks, or Star Jumps, so the substitute is not too fresh, and then has an unfair advantage.
Or spike their Carb drink with half a sleeping tablet, so they aren't too pepped up, so they run like someone who's done 6 miles.
Excuse the random waffling.
Anyway, whatever happens, I know you'll be alright :-) :-).
Oh thought I'd post this for you.
http://www.runwalkjog.com/states.htm
Post that URL into Google, and it'll give you a list of states and running events.
Should help you find another event worthy of your talents :-) :-).
Wow, that was fast! I feel fortunate to have got in! See if you can put yourself on the e-mailing for next year's event. You might want to see if you can get in through Team In Training. I think there was something to that last year, if you went through TNT you could still sign up. There's the San Jose Rock N Roll Half Marathon on October 14, 2007. That's a nice one because it's mostly flat and it goes through some really pretty areas. I'm so bummed! It would have been fun to do a run with you! Maybe next year???
