Melange

  • Still tired, still sore from the marathon. Did P90X shoulders and arms today and that was fine, but I still have no desire to work my lower body at all. Does anyone know when you're supposed to start running again?
  • I have lots of favorite Christmas songs for lots of Christmas moods. Favorite upbeat song? Merry Christmas Baby by Lou Rawls. Sexy brass section and an edgy celebratory feel. Anyone else care to share a favorite holiday song or two?
  • Got a good night's sleep last night and it felt great.
  • FRUSTRATED that I have so little energy. I do understand why, but that doesn't mean I have to like it!

definitely let yourself rest. some people run pretty quick after, but after SFM i tried to run too soon (the next sat) and i hurt myself and had to take more time off. i say wait as long as you can :) i am planning on trying to stay away from running for 2 weeks to let myself heal. TRY is the key word :)

I only ran 3 miles on Saturday and so did not want to run last night!!! You are amazing!!!

I got the email for the 90 year old race and I'm considering it. I was supposed to go out of town, but I think I might stay that morning and leave for the Bay Area that afternoon. I'll let you know what I decide.

You don't have to like it, but you do have to let your body re-energize...so rest my friend ;)

It has been written that you should take one day off for each mile run in a race. 26 days is a lot!

That being said, I recommend a couple of weeks!

Take at least a week off of running. Seriously! You ran hard chica, give the body a little breaky. Doesn't it deserve it? ;-)

Everyone is different. Some people may need a few days, others may need a couple of weeks. I'd see how you feel by Sunday and take it from there. You don't want to risk injury.

I love most Christmas tunes by Gary Hoey. Rock 'n' roll guitar!

However, I love Silent Night. It makes me feel all warm inside.

After I run a marathon or even the ultra, I would go out for a run three days later. Even if it's just 30 minutes or so. And even if you walk more than run. You might be surprised at how good it feels.

Do a walk/run combination. Two days after my marathon I did a 30 min walk and two days after that I would run @5 min and then walk 5 min. It may not feel good at first but your legs will feel better a lot quicker than doing nothing. Congrats on your first marathon!
