Getting out of the heat

Camping was GREAT! It started out yucky with thunder and lightening and big rain. If I'd had total say-so, I would have made us come home. But we stuck it out, and were rewarded by a gorgeous weekend where the temps only got up to about 80 degrees or so. Tim and I ran 5 miles on Saturday keeping a 9:00 mile pace, which is good considering the altitude (almost 7000 feet) and the rolling hills.

When we came home yesterday, the temperature was 117 as per the car thermometer. We all guessed what the temperature would be inside the house, and Tucker won with his guess of 95 degrees. The power was out when we got home, so we got on bathing suits and spent the next couple of hours in the pool till the power went back on.

I just got back from a 6 mile run, and it's already 95 degrees. (I sound like a weather freak who watches nothing but The Weather Channel -- I promise that's not the case!) Even though I like to be acclimated to the heat, even I won't run if it's much over 100 degrees, plus the air quality diminishes as it heats up, so running becomes just plain stupid.

Stay cool, friends!

I cannot believe you run in that heat. I run in my air conditioned garage and even that gets too hot for me!

Glad you had fun camping.

I WAS glued to the Weather Channel Saturday night! We had such weird weather down here that night and with my wife out of town, what else was there to do. Anyway, the thermometer in my backyard hit 100. We never get that hot. And it was humid. It was really weird.
