A strange and lovely week

This week we have something strange and lovely -- A WHOLE WEEK WITH NO KIDS! Tucker is at my sister's house in Santa Cruz (where he would spend the entire rest of the summer if he could!) and Austin is on a church houseboat trip with the high school group. And me and Tim? We're lovin' life! This has happened only one other time since we had kids, and so far it's amazingly peaceful and fun. Tucker left on Saturday and Austin left yesterday. Maybe I'll feel differently by the end of the week, but so far, it's just really really nice!

Some random thoughts...
  • The new season of The Closer started last night. I LOVE that show!!!
  • On Saturday I'm going to Oakland to take a cooking class from Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, the voice of Vegetarian Food for Thought and author of the Compassionate Cooks website. I'm meeting my sister and Tucker there, and we're all taking the "Greens, Glorious Greens" class. I can't wait!
  • Today is my 23rd AA birthday. When I think of the desperation of my last day of drinking 23 years ago, it's inconceivable to me that I have MY LIFE today. I am beyond humble and grateful.

Congrats on 23 years! That's really something to be proud of.

Enjoy the week! They are rare and hard to come by these days. I was just saying to myself that I thought when the kids got older they wouldn't be underfoot as much. HA! They seem to be MORE underfoot now than when they were little!
